Cross-cultural communication

For international teams, or any team where miscommunication keeps showing up in the same places.

This workshop was born from real employee relations cases I worked on in international teams in Slovenia, Germany and across the region, and later in Dubai, where cultural differences often sat behind the same recurring communication problems.

This workshop gives your team the language and the awareness to work across cultures without the friction that slows everything down.

In Germany I worked in HR in a company with around 200 people spread across five continents and for most of us English wasn't our first language.

What kept coming up was communication problems. People meant well, worked hard, and still talked past each other. Messages landed differently in very conversation, missunderstandings were happening in every team. Feedback confused more than it clarified. Silence got misread. Decisions took longer than they should.

We ran this workshop five times across the company with different teams, different functions, different regions. The patterns were very similar.

After each run, Slack filled up with stories. “I finally get why he didn’t say no.” “I had no idea that sounded that direct.” “I know what to do differently now.”

The Dubai workshop brought together teams from across the world. One conversation about feedback turned into a full group discussion because the difference between Arabic communication and South and East Asian styles was causing repeated friction. Once it was named and understood, the tension dropped.

Awareness didn’t just help people communicate better, it helped them trust each other more.

Across cultural lines without it landing as an attack or disappearing into politeness.

Why silence, tone, and phrases mean different things

The workshop is built on Erin Meyer’s The Culture Map, the clearest framework I’ve found for explaining how different cultures process communication. I’ve combined it with real cases from over 12 years working across 30+ cultures in Slovenia, Germany, and Dubai.
This workshop is for you if...

... your team works across countries and the same misunderstandings keep coming up. You've hired fast and internationally and something in the communication is off but you can't quite put your finger on it. You have a specific team dynamic that's tense and everyone's being professional about it but nothing is actually getting resolved.

Or you're a leader who manages people from very different backgrounds and you want to do it better, from real understanding of how different people think and speak.
